Race the Lake

On Sunday, Seth rode in Fond du Lac's Race the Lake bike race. It is a 90 mile ride around Lake Winnebago. There was over 2,000 riders this year. The kids and I didn't go to the start of the race because it was at 5:45 am, but we went to see Seth finish.

Having a little snack.

Silas had fun watching all the cyclists come in.

Both kids entertained themselves by picking up little nuts and berries underneath the tree we were sitting under while we waited. They also had fun dancing to the music.

Seth coming in. He is hard to see in this picture. He is behind the rider in the front of the photo. Didn't the other guy know I was trying to get a picture.

Seth is on the left in the red Swiss jersey.

Seth finished in 690th place out of 2,000. He finished with a time of 4 hours 24 minutes and 28 seconds. He did great! He averaged just over 20 mph.

The kids and I had a great time watching Seth compete in his race. He is very excited to do it again next year and he has already been trying to gather up some more people to join him.

But of course they loved having a treat of cotton candy while Seth ate his lunch.

Seth's New Birthday Toy

Seth had a very busy but happy birthday this year. He was as school all day with teacher inservices and football practice. But once he got home the kids showed him their birthday balloons they put up and we had birthday cupcakes. This year Seth was very excited to spend some birthday money on a man toy.

He loves his new mower. It has cut his mowing time at least in half.

The kids like the new mower too.

It's Time for a Show

Norah was having fun one night before bed. She was putting on shows for us and was dancing and singing. Silas always enjoys joining in on the fun. If you can try to listen to Norah's words. They don't make much sense, but they can be funny.

A Day at Lakeside Park

In Fond du Lac by Lake Winnebago, there is a great park. During the summer they have 3 little rides for kids. So one afternoon we decided to go. Silas' favorite was the train.

Both kids loved the Merry-go-Round and were excited to pick out their own horses.

Their last ride was the Whipping Cars. This was Norah's favorite because you went pretty fast. The kids ended up using the rest of their tickets on this ride. I think they went on it 3 times. It was a very fun afternoon.

Visiting the North Woods

Our family was very excited that we got to visit the cabin twice this summer. We love it up there and according to Seth and Norah it is "the best place on earth." We did a lot of our usual things like kayaking, boat rides, the beach and fishing. But we also got to do some new things too.

S'mores are always a must.

And a trip to the cabin wouldn't be complete without a trip to the Corner Store. Silas was very happy they had blue ice cream.

One morning we took the kids with some of their cousins to a local park in Sayner. They loved it. Parks are always a winning idea with our kids.

Silas' favorite thing, a fire truck at the park.

Grandma Joyce and Grandma Great, here are some of your favorite Brewer fans.

We had a great time fishing. Each kids caught their first up north fish. We caught over 30 fish while we were out but Norah caught the only keeper.

Silas enjoyed fishing but I think he almost enjoyed playing with the worms more.

A new adventure was horse back riding for Norah. She was so excited and had a great time with Seth on a 30 minute trail ride.

Silas was a little upset when he realized that he had to stay back with mom. But we got to pet the horses, which he loved.

Finishing up their ride on Casper.

Because he couldn't go on a horse ride, Silas got to go on the bumper boats. They were both soaked from head to toe by the time they were done thanks to a big fountain.

We had fun on our walks down the driveway.

And of course you need a walking stick.

Norah had another first this year. She got to sleep in a tent outside with her Grandma Joyce.

Before bedtime, both Silas and Norah got to watch a movie in the tent with Grandma. Norah was a trooper and stayed in the tent all night. She definately wants to do it again.

Our up north visit wouldn't be complete without one more trip to the Corner Store. We can't wait to visit again.

Baby #3!

As many of you already know, we are expecting baby number 3! I am due December 6th. Recently we were able to find out the sex of the baby. We are having another GIRL!!! We are very excited. Norah was excited because she guessed correctly and now she's on to picking a name. Seth and I have to remind her that mommy and daddy get to choose. Silas doesn't quite get it yet but he'll tell you that mommy had a baby in her tummy. We can't wait for this little girl to arrive.
